About Super Toppers
Adding toppings to your pet’s food not only enhances with flavours, it also provides supplementary nutrition. Just like us humans, it’s difficult for furkids to get enough vitamins and minerals through their usual diet. For example, puppies and kittens need more calcium while senior dogs and cats need more nutrients for their legs.
We’ve made it easier to liven up your pet’s usual meal with 6 different super food toppings! Simply shake a little topping into your pet’s meal to bring a little surprise and variety to your pet’s meal. Our pets have sharp noses and can smell every ingredient. Quality toppings can induce better appetite and improve their health.
Our toppings are all human-grade ingredients sourced from Japan. No additives or preservatives are added.
Niboniboshi A.K.A Dried Baby Sardine Powder
Sardine is rich in many nutrients such as vitamin B2, D and E, calcium, iron, selenium, protein, lipids and so on. Apart from DHA and EPA, sardine is also rich in necessary minerals like zinc, copper, magnesium, manganese. However the most nutrient it contains is calcium. In fact, sometimes, it is known as “swimming calcium”.
Every 100g of raw sardine contains 70mg of calcium but when dried, the amount of calcium goes up to 1400mg in every 100g of sardine. When boiled and then dried, the amount of calcium increases to 2200mg per 100g. This method of drying sardine is called niboshi and it is also used to refer to sardines processed in this way. 10g of niboshi contains even more calcium than 200g of milk.
Vitamin D, which is needed to help absorb calcium and phosphorous, is also abundantly found in niboshi. Vitamin D is hardly available via vegetables and meat but in mushrooms and fish. Although vitamin D can be made through sunbathing, our pets can’t really do that. Niboshi can help our pets get vitamin D easily.
